Madekwe comes from an ethnically diverse family in South London in England. Her mother is English while her father is Nigerian. Her family was lived in a housing estate run by the council located south of London. When she was fourteen, she was enrolled at The Brit School. At the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art is where she earned the BA in acting. She appeared in many stages during her high time at school, including the stage productions King Henry V and Wuthering Heights.
Madekwe got her start in acting through a short film called Storm Damage. Since then she's made appearances as a guest in films like Teachers, Doctors Casualty Drop Dead Gorgeous. Madekwe's debut film is her role in the Woody Allen 2007 movie Cassandra's Dream. She starred alongside Colin Farrell & Ewan MacGregor. She then was the lead in Elisha in an episode of the BBC Three pilot drama, in West 10 LDN. In her role, she also played Ollie in six episodes each in the series Trexx, Flipside, and Flipside. In 2008, Madekwe landed Bambi as the main character in ITV2's show Secret Diary of a Call Girl. Madekwe starred as the lead character on How to Lose Friends And Alienate Others, a comedy that was released in 2008. A couple of her credits on stage include Little Sweet Thing (by Roy Williams) and Flight Path (by David Watson).
Madekwe first aired in the US by presenting The Beautiful Life. The drama program ran on The CW for only two episodes before being cancelled. Ashley Davenport, a character from ABC's Revenge drama series was cast for her as Ashley Davenport. In late May 2013, it was revealed that Madekwe who had played a regular role in the past two seasons, was to leave the series following a guest appearance in the premier episode of the season's new episode. In the TV series Salem in 2014, she portrayed Tituba in 2014 through 2016. Madekwe was married to her long-time lover, Iddo. In addition to Secret Diary of a Call Girl they also appeared together on Salem and he had a part alongside her in that TV show.

Ashley Leggat, a twice Gemini nominated actress was raised in a huge family from Hamilton, Ontario. Her parents were Roy and Patty and four older brothers -Rob, Brett, and twins Todd and Bram.
